Override Theme Styles with Default Plugin Styles in WordPress Forms
After you’ve installed the User Registration & Membership plugin, you might have built various forms. Your forms can use two different styling approaches:
Plugin Styles: Form can use User Registration & Membership’s built-in styling
Theme Styles: Forms can match your WordPress theme’s design (default setting)
Steps-by-Step Guide to Override Theme Styles in Forms
1. Access Form Preview
- Navigate to User Registration & Membership > All Forms from your dashboard
- Open the registration or login form you want to modify
- Next, click the form Preview button to preview the form

2. Toggle Apply Theme Style and Save the Change
As you can see in the Form Preview interface, the theme’s style is applied to your form by default. That’s because the Apply Theme Style option is on.

Switch the toggle:
- ON: Uses your current theme’s styling (default)
- OFF: Uses User Registration & Membership’s styling
So, toggle the “Apply Theme Style” to disable the theme style and click the “Save” button to apply the changes.

The form will inherit button colors, font styles, field spacing, and other CSS rules specified by the User Registration & Membership plugin. It might look similar to the image below at the frontend:

Theme styling can help achieve a seamless integration with highly styled themes. However, inherited theme styles may not always provide optimal usability, so review how your form looks with each option and proceed.
